Deeper Levels of Feng Shui for your Home Office or Study

Are you happy with your own home office or study area and are able to focus for long hours, without any disruption?

Or do you find that you are constantly interrupted or just can’t focus? Perhaps you may get distracted easily? People may often interrupt you and you may get nothing done.

Often when this occurs, we seek another area of the house, perhaps even our own bedrooms or lounge room to focus on our work or study. Instead our home offices become stagnate, having little purpose and a waste of space.

From a Feng Shui Perspective there may be many reasons why this is happening and this may not necessarily have anything to do with your attitude, intelligence level or ability to focus.

Some of the main reasons most feng shui consultants look into, to determine the cause, is the arrangement of furniture and its positioning within the office or study area itself.

One very basic characteristic, that many may have already heard of, is having your back facing the main door while you work or study. Some believe that it symbolises people doing things behind your back.

I believe it is not always bad to have our back facing the door, as when you really think about it, sometimes people do things behind our backs which are good!

In general though it is better to have the front door facing you, as this symbolises customers coming towards you.

However, a lot more has to be determined about the design of a property to conclude whether it is really bad or not, for an occupant to have their back facing the door. Another typical characteristic many feng shui enthusiasts most likely already know about, is an abundance of sharp corners pointing at you while you are seated. This can sometimes create sharp piercing chi energy that "attacks" the occupant while they are seated making them to feel vulnerable and unsettled.

It is not a good idea to have your work station positioned too close to the door or an entry way. It is also ideal to have a window in your office, however too many windows (or glass paneled walls) may stop chi energy from collecting in your room. There are remedies to help overcome this. For a person to gain wealth, chi energy needs to be able to collect and store itself however too much chi energy collecting may result in stagnation. There are many ways to help occupants store chi energy correctly in their office.

But does it end there? >>>> No it does not!

If a feng shui consultant fails to analyse your property further than what I’ve described, then most likely, they haven’t really looked at the full picture and you are wasting your money.

For instance, there are many invisible lines that overlap your property’s construction plan and these lines directly embed their influence on the house and its occupants.

Some of these invisible lines govern the specific energy to do with ‘movement’. So if your home-office or study area is overlapping one of these ‘movement’ lines, most likely you’ll find yourself in an ongoing situation where you can’t concentrate, you are easily distracted, you often leave your desk and can hardly sit there, even for a few moments. 

On the other hand, there are other invisible lines, which govern the energy to do with ‘stillness’. This is the ultimate spot for your home office or study area to be. This isn’t a vague interpretation and requires exactness. Most likely if your office is situated here, thoughts come to you naturally, you are not side tracked by other thoughts or by others and you are able to get a lot of academic and mental work done in a short period of time. If you are studying, you feel calmer in this spot, more settled and perhaps you are even able to understand better what it is that you are learning.

On the contrary, if an occupant has a home office where they run a business that doesn't require much academic thought, and instead as part of their business they must constantly speak and communicate to people over the phone all day, where their industry is all about action, action and action! Then perhaps the 'stillness' lines are not appropriate for them.

On top of this analysis, we also then have to look at the property's ‘flying stars’. Encase you haven’t heard of this before, this is when the construction period of your property is crossed over with the facing position. From this ancient calculation, paired numbers will fly over your property to different magnetic sectors and rooms. These numbers are unique to the property and often reveal different life situations going on in the occupant’s life. This analysis further reveals auspicious areas in a house and less auspicious ones. So even if your home office sits over the ‘stillness’ lines it may not necessarily be an auspicious area. One must also consider land formation surrounding the property, as this also has a heavy influence on the numbers that fly over your home.

But hang on a second, there's more!

The consultation doesn’t end there either, one must then also look at the occupant much more deeply. From this we can really see whether it is definitely auspicious for the home office or study area to be positioned in that particular direction, for the particular individual.

Unfortunately how to do this last part, is not published anywhere or openly taught to westerners and it is very difficult to come across a consultant who knows how to perform this. Many so called 'advanced' consultants or most whom are well-known individuals, use inferior systems which are not as powerful or revealing.

So there you go, analysing home offices and study areas is not all about sharp corners, furniture positioning, backs facing doors or storing of chi energy! A lot more is required to perform a more accurate reading.
