Don't walk into the bathroom with your wallet while at home. Men often do this as they will carry their wallets in their back pocket. And when you repeat this action all the time, you send a strong message to the universe, of ‘money going down the toilet’.

It is okay to do this at other people’s houses if you must use their bathroom. Its not your home, so it doesn’t really have the same symbolical effect.

If you’re a women, try to get out of the habit of dumping your handbag on the kitchen bench near the sink. You might be in the habit of doing this as your main entrance opens into the kitchen and the kitchen bench is the closest spot. Try to avoid this.

While what I’ve said on wallets and handbags, may sound like feng shui rubbish, these two items are probably (symbolically) the most important, in regards to your own wealth, out of any furniture in your home! It is a place where you keep your credit cards, bank cards, cash etc. Pay attention to where you place these items in your home, as it sends a strong message to the universe. The same can be said about keys, where you place those around the home, is also just as important. In addition where you place your phone, could be influential over your communications too.

Mute and brown colours are better for wallets (in terms of feng shui for wealth) and handbags rather than bright colours.

Try to stay away from blue wallets and handbags, as it is a symbol of water and one needs to store wealth. Fluid watery money is easily lost. Only certain people can have a blue wallet.

If you happen to live in a tiny place, your ability to place your keys, wallet and phone in desirable spots on a consistent basis, might be all you need to do for a significant feng shui impact, that has positive effect on your life.

Think about it, every time you arrive at home and dump your handbag next to the kitchen sink, it is like you are making a symbolic ‘stamp’ on that area that screams ‘drain my finances’.

The kitchen sink is similar to a bathroom sink due to the drain and pipes which redirect energy out of the house too quickly. This habit is especially hard to avoid, if you have your kitchen close to the main entrance, or your main entrance opens into the kitchen.

Try to live in a home where the bathroom cannot be seen from the main door - this is good bathroom feng shui. If you can see it, try to shield it partly with a room divider or tall indoor plants, even fake ones (in my opinion) are effective feng shui remedies. A certain type of bookshelf might help too.

Place a striking, eye grabbing picture on another wall, so that it steals the attention away from the sight of the bathroom, as one walks in.

The best feng shui tip is to not live in a home where the bathroom is closest to main door either. If you have another door or another entrance which is not next to a bathroom, perhaps its time to use that entrance instead? This is all about gaining accumulation and storage of wealth.

Accumulation in feng shui is important in attracting feng shui wealth. Bare apartments and too many sleek and shiny surfaces quicken the pace and not always effective in accumulation.

If you have a front and back door, and the back door means walking straight into a kitchen and the front door is closest to the bathroom, out of both these entrances, I think the kitchen entrance might be better to use, as a feng shui remedy.

When comparing between a kitchen and bathroom, the bathroom is always the most ‘draining’ room in the house. Kitchens can be auspicious and often are, this is where food is stored, cooked and prepared. It is a very important life giving area and it is very dynamic as it also has a sink which drains.. As it is such a dynamic area, it is not always good for the kitchen to be at the entrance of which everyone enters by the house.

Still it is better walking into a main entrance which opens right into a kitchen, rather than through a main entrance which is right next to a bathroom.

Kitchens can be draining on finances due to the sink, just as much as a bathroom depending on the whole layout. However this isn’t always the case and some kitchen feng shui I’ve seen in the past has been quite effective in various homes.

Bathrooms have pipes and drainage and so the ‘qi’ energy will escape quickly and it is harder to store feng shui wealth with homes like this, where the main entrance is so close to it. You can also be subject more to legal disputes and anything that takes your money.

On a holiday while at a hotel, try to stay in a hotel room where again the main door is NOT next to the bathroom (unfortunately so many hotel are structurally placed like this).

Pay attention to when coin falls out unexpectedly while walking around your home. That area of the house may symbolize where ‘wealth’ will come next. If this occurs near a bathroom at your home, it is not a good omen for finances in the slightest. If you drop something in your home, pay attention to the symbol of that item and where it happened in your home.

There is always a meaning behind something, for instance a lounge made of moose skin isn’t the best if there are third parties in a relationship and you are a women, as we know that animal has many female partners. If you want someone to commit to you and its not happening, you have to really pay attention to the detail.

If there is a third party in your relationship get rid of the three seater lounge (if you have one), and symbols of three around the home.

If you're a female looking for romance with a man and finding it difficult to attract, you may need to get rid of female symbols in your home and display some masculine ones..

If dating always have a fresh vase of flowers in a decent amount of water in your home, red and bright pink flowers are the best. This romance vase remedy is essential to bring in attraction, even if you are a man! This feng shui remedy for romance, can still work if your on holidays somewhere and staying in a hotel.

I would also like to mention my superstition on leaves. A large dried leaf unexpectedly landing in front of you, while walking outside, is auspicious. Take it home and place it on your mantle piece or praying spot or where your Buddha is to acknowledge and attract wealth. I always believe dried leaves from a tree are lucky and represent money.

Never have your back facing the door while watching tv or working at a desk.

It is always best to have a solid wall behind you, while you work, whether that be at your home or at office in the city. Even with a lounge room, it is better to have a wall behind the main lounge rather than an open lounge layout.

It's better to sleep all the way at the back of house rather than at the front facing position, this is a very generalized statement and does not apply to everyone though.

The master bedroom isn't always the best bedroom.

Carpeted floors are sometimes better than shiny polished surfaces.

Always live in a home with decent dimension, like a rectangular shape or square. Odd layouts and weird unsymmetrical rooms can cause uncertainty.

Don't use too much red as a main colour in your home, it is an authority colour and only if you are in the military or high position should you use it generously. It can attract power struggles and lawsuits.

This is the same for a blue furnishings and blue walls, if you are having a hard time saving money, the blue can have this overly fluid temporary effect on finances.

I cannot stress the importance of ‘storage’ when it comes to attracting wealth and keeping it. Having items made of clay and stone around the home are helpful feng shui remedies which enhance storage.

Wearing gems are also a great feng shui remedy for attracting accumulation and wealth. Men have better luck in business with red garnets and green peridots and these stones in general are not as good for women seeking romance. Men whom are bit explosive in character, perhaps should stay away from these stones as they are formed by volcanoes, and you don’t want to bring that volcanic eruption into work.

Diamonds are better for a man attracting reputation and fame. Women whom wear them might have better luck attracting a man in her life. For this case, diamonds should not be reserved for just engagement rings, after you have already found someone.

A blue sapphire is great for perception, especially if you work in a profession that involves sight, from anywhere to being an Optometrist to a fortune teller!.

Water features as a feng shui remedy, don't always attract money, in fact they tend to attract romance and the opposite sex more than money. For that case, water features can sometimes attract third parties in relationships and can often attract scandalous energies. Many feng shui consultants, often suggest water features to almost every single client they consult, however the greatest care, must be taken, in my opinion whether they should have one at all.

Be weary of having a feng shui master or feng shui consultant, completely and utterly change the layout of all furniture and sleeping positions, in your home. Especially be cautious if the consultant has made it so, that it is completely opposite to the way you had it before!

There is a reason why you, the occupant, placed items and furnishing in a particular way to begin with, is a subconscious choice and yes there is a way to find out what it means to you, and why you have placed that object or certain piece of furniture in a certain spot, is important to understand and can only be explained be a genuine practitioner.

Mirrors can be used as feng shui remedies for various things in mainstream Feng Shui, I've found more often though, they can make someone emotional or disturbed if placed in wrong position (which they often are), also on the other hand, in the correct position it can attract romance. Mirrors can also place a ‘spotlight’ in a certain area of your life like your work if you have one in your study or office.

If seeking a promotion you might benefit from a mirror in your home office but be warned, it can put a spotlight on your performance in other ways. In this respect, the timing of how you do it is important.

On the other hand, if you are being investigated at work or audited in your business, remove shiny surfaces and any mirrors you have from your work space and from your home.

To attract money, the main feng shui remedy I suggest is to try to camouflage the sight of a bathroom from the main door (if that is the case with your layout) with a divider etc as mentioned earlier, do not live in a home with too many entrances, or where the main entrance is next to or closest to the bathroom or kitchen.

If you perform the feng shui remedy for your bathroom (those with a bathroom to close too the main door), that I mentioned earlier, it will only work to a certain extent. If you have this layout, it cannot be fully remedied ever, unless you completely renovate and relocate the bathroom to another spot.

The main aim of the game is to simply not live in houses like this! It is not always doom and gloom if you have this layout, so do not be at ends wits about it. As there is the exception and what I’m saying is general in my own terms. Also I’m VERY superstitious! And you don’t have to believe me.

Multiple entrances to a home can sometimes be advantageous feng shui, however I will not go into that at this stage. Not all of them will be lucky, some of them will activate certain parts of your life. If you know what they are, you can really manipulate the energy to suit your situation as it changes.

This is one of the greatest secrets in feng shui and was made use of greatly by the old emperors of China, whom did so much to hide this technique from the masses. Some of those in power today jealously guard this secret. People like me can’t say too much! Ha ha!

The use of rugs and carpets to slow down energy at the entrance are effective, if you so happen to live in a place where there are shiny slick floors, such as floor boards or tiles. Use wooden textiles, plant based fabrics, rugs galore and various cloth-like textures or even furs to slow down the energy rushing through the home. They can also be paintings, other bits of furniture, ornaments or decorations with these fabric like characteristics.

I have lived in almost 20 different homes and what I have written is also based on my own experience and others.

In the houses and flats I lived in, where the money wasn’t as good, ALWAYS had a bathroom right near the entrance, or the bathroom was exactly in line with the entrance and/or could EASILY be seen!

This was the same with people whom complained always about money, many of them had this problem with the bathroom being to close to the main door.

Where money was good in certain places I lived in, ALWAYS the bathroom was hidden around some corner and well away from the front entrance!

The most difficult house type for accumulation, is one that sits almost exactly north and face south or vice versa, can be extreme and problematic especially if the main door is in the middle as well as the back door (both doors in line with each other, sometimes a long corridor which links both which is the worst).

There are some certain individuals in this house type that are the exception.

Why follow feng shui superstitions? I always believe symbols are all around you, they are the language of the universe and perhaps a higher awareness does watch us and maybe it does have an effect?

Experiment if you dare.
